There are ten possible pairs you can be dealt in blackjack. There is a specific article written for each pair, but here are some quick guidelines regarding playing pairs with perfect basic strategy.
You'll always split aces and eight's no matter what the dealer's upcard is.
You'll never split five's or tens, no matter what the dealer's upcard is.
